After Action Report
With the Axis approaching Calais fast, it was up to Captain Gnpatton to defend Calais. His primary goal was to eliminate the Axis forces attacking, and if that could not be achived to board the transport that would be arriving in approximately two hours and withdraw.
Captain Amled of the Axis forces was in command. Charged with capturing Calais and destroying the enemy forces in the area, he quickly sent his sniper/scout to the airfield to asses the area in an anticipated defense being set up. To his surprise, only a light defense was encountered, and they slowly approached Calais from the South East. Gnpatton did want to hold the airfield due to lack of cover, and instead held back between Calais and the airfield.
Feeling that the Axis forces were not being aggressive, Gnpatton orderd some of his forces to make small attacks and probe their strength. As the axis forces approached the T intersection, one of his squad leaders died, and he decided to take it upon himself to lead this squad personally, using his A13s as cover fire. He soon found himself in a dire situation, and just before being eliminated by enemy forces ordered a retreat back into Calais. It was also at this point that the Axis forces lost a Panzer IVD to enemy fire.
The axis forces then moved north to the road, to start an approach down into Calais from the East. The Allied forces were doing a good jod of defense, holding the enemy back, but with time running out and their Transport pulling into the dock, the order came for the Allies to slowly move back and board the ship in a retreat. It was at this point that the Axis made their push, seeing what the allies were doing and thus using this situation to their advantage. Many casualty reports from both sides started coming in fast, the Axis at this point lost their 2nd IVD when its gun became disabled. As the allied were boarding the transport, the axis laid down a barrage of fire, causing massive casualties to the allied side, who also lost the 2pdr while being hoisted into the cargo hold, an A13 was destroyed as a 232 made a suicide dash for the sitting allied armour, and was lucky to survive. A small axis force that had been flanking from the South of Calais were the first to enter the town, but they did not see much action as the Transport started is slow journey back to Dover from where it had been dispatched.
