History
The Hurricane was the only modern British fighter available in quantity at the beginning of the war. As Britain's first low-wing monoplane fighters design it was a huge leap forward from the biplane era such as embodied by the Gloster Gladiator and the Hawker Fury. Sturdy, reliable and highly maneuverable the Hurricane bore the brunt of fighting during the first months of shooting war in the west, though always overshadowed by the more illustrious Supermarine Spitfire. The Hurricane was however the real victor of the Battle of Britain, equipping three-fifths of the RAF and destroying twice as many aircraft as the Spitfires in the battle.

While the Hurricane I and II were considerably slower than the prevailing German fighter, the Bf-109, and struggled to keep up with both the Bf-110 and the the Ju-88, it managed to hold its own thanks to the benefit of radar assisted ground controlled interception, which gave the Hurricane formations positional advantage necessary to deliver a telling blow.

Inreasingly outclassed and with no hope of improving the airframe to compete on even terms with the Bf-109, the Hurricane was eventually relegated to ground attack missions in which it served with particular distinction over France and North Africa. Later versions of the Hurricane were operational in the Middle and Far East theatres until the end of the war, and, perhaps little known, in Europe until the end of 1944.

Game Play
The Hurricane Mk I is the basic RAF fighter plane in the early days of a Battleground Europe campaign. It is not particularly fast and does not climb as well as the more advanced Spitfire Mk I, but it does have some advantages in combat, chiefly in turn radius and diving ability. It is a stable guns platform without serious vices, and less experienced pilots find it easier to score hits with the Hurricane than with the Spitfire because the guns are all grouped evenly together, producing a tight and concentrated shot pattern at convergence range.

The Hurricane pilot, fighting against aircraft that climb better, fly faster and can sustain a dive better, must use his single remaining advantage – turning ability - to the hilt. However, this ace in the sleeve should ideally only be used when all other options have been used up: altitude, surprise, numerical superiority and teamwork. These are powerful force multipliers that the Hurricane pilot must learn to employ.

Because the enemy aircraft are always faster than the Hurricane in a level race, the aggressive Hurricane pilot must entice the enemy to turn and remain within easy grasp, where the Hurricane can utilize lead pursuit to bring his guns to bear. If the enemy does not comply but runs away, the Hurricane must break off pursuit and pretend not to care while preparing to recieve the bandit again, should he turn back for more. And if the bandit climbs away the Hurricane must extend away in the horizontal so as not to be trapped directly below the enemy where he is no more than a target for a diving attack.

On the defensive, the Hurricane pilot must likewise 'fight in circles' and either scare away his opponent or destroy him outright before he can disengage. Adding to his woes, the Hurricane pilot has no more than twelve seconds of uninterrupted fire, and his dogfighting options somewhat curtailed by a less than stellar roll rate. These two problems can be offset by a miser's fire discipline and deft use of snap rolls to increase his roll rate.

As always, going out alone is a certain recipe for disaster. The wise pilot flies in pairs, groups and gaggles, and preferably with a wingman on voice comms.
History
The Hurricane I was outclassed and all but obsolescent already when first introduced to active service, yet proved to be a sturdy and functional guns platform against enemy bombers and a fully capable ground attack aircraft. Early in the war the RAF realized that the eight rifle caliber machine guns of the Spitfire and Hurricane offered insufficient stopping power, steps were taken to increase the weight of fire by a change of fighter armament policy expressed as the widespread use of 20 mm aircraft cannon instead of the traditional machine gun.

The first measure was the construction of an ”Universal Wing” that would accomodate a variety of armaments and bombs, the second to add another four .303 machineguns to create what was called a ”twelve-gun shotgun”, as a stop-gap increase in firepower until the anticipated 20 mm Hispano cannon was made available in quantity. The most significant improvement was however the Merlin XX engine which increased output from 1,030 to 1,390 hp, giving the Hurricane IIB a much needed increase in speed and acceleration. The same Universal Wing would later carry four 20 mm Hispano cannon and up to 1,000 lb worth of bombs in the Hurricane IIC, and two Vickers Type S 40 mm cannon in the Hurricane IID variant.

Contributing to the Hurricane's fighting ability was its somewhat legendary durability, a result of the old fashioned tubular steel truss fuselage construction covered with a streamlining wooden stringer and fabric fuselage cover, which by this stage of the war made it rather unique but easy to produce construction.

Game Play
The Hurricane IIB's increase in firepower comes at a price of more weight and slightly heavier roll inertia, though with a considerably more powerful engine the difference between it and the Mk I is slight. Roll rate is still sluggish, slightly faster than a Mk I the Mk IIB is still far slower than the Luftwaffe's main fighter, and it cannot climb its way out of a tight spot for love or money.

The Hurricane Mk IIB acts much like the Mk I, so the combat advice above applies in full: fight in circles when your other advantages have eroded; fight as a team with time-honoured 'drag-and-bag' tactics; and, whenever possible, let the Hurricanes deal with the bombcarriers and engage in close air support while the better performing fighters deal with matters of air superiority. With its twelve guns and additional ammo, the Hurricane Mk IIB has the wherewithal to be a decent CAS aircraft, although it can only hope to hurt soft targets: trucks, guns and infantry.
History
The same Universal Wing that was first employed with the Hurricane Mk IIB was also the main feature of the Mk IIC. Both the Mk IIB and Mk IIC were dubbed ”Hurribomber” as a reflection of its newly acquired fighter-bomber role – both variants were rated to carry two 250 lb bombs, later increased to two 500 lb bombs on underwing hardpoints. The distinguishing difference between the IIB and IIC was the latter's main armament, now comprising four 20 mm Hispano cannon. Service use of the Mk IIC began in April 1941, barely three months after the IIB's combat debut.

Some Hawker Hurricane IIBs and IICs carried six, later eight, 3 inch rocket projectiles underwing, after tests starting in February 1942, further improving its capacity for ground attack.

Game Play
The Hurricane Mk IIC “Hurribomber” represents the first British fighter bomber to enter a Battleground Europe campaign. Like its predecessors it is not very fast and it does not climb very well in comparison to the opposition, which, at the time the Hurribomber debuts, is generally the much better performing Bf 109-F.

Because the Hurricane platform is always well behind the enemy on the speed and power curve, the Hurricane pilot must take this into account and fly so as to maximise his chances – for one on one, any reasonably well-handled Bf 109 has the speed and manoeuvrability to dominate the Hurricane in all aspects but one: turn radius. Knowing this the Hurricane pilot makes sure to arrive with a good head of steam and plenty of altitude to spend before he must use his remaining ace and turn for dear life, fighting in circles as described previously.

While the Hurribomber has the firepower to rip enemy aircraft to shreds at a brief touch of the trigger, and many pilots take delight in using it as a pure fighter, the Hurricane Mk IIC's earns its dues as a competent ground attack platform.

Use the Hurricane IIC in strength to bring an overwhelming amount of bombs and firepower to bear where the need is the greatest. While slow for a fighter it is nevertheless faster than a bomber, and can pick and choose between targets far easier than they – and defend itself against enemy fighters should the need arise.

The Hurribomber likes all kinds of approaches to the combat area. Go in fast and hard on the deck for rapid attacks at low altitude; fly in teams of four to eight at medium altitude when friendly fighters own the sky; or come in from 12,000 or still higher with the engine on idle to 'bomb and run' when enemy fighters and AA guns are strongly present.
Entering the Training Server
To login to the Training Server, select the Training option from the BE launcher (also known as PlayGate).

Training Server Usage
Most of the time there are two game servers online. There is the "real" server, where everything counts. Then there is the "training" server where you can practice and hone your battle skills, be it by yourself or with a friend or two.

There are some differences between the real server and the training server. In the training server there is no rank requirement, allowing you to spawn any unit and to post missions for all your personas. Supply is unlimited here and you can respawn over and over 'til the sheep come home.

Area51. There is no Area51 anymore. I know many of the players loved it and we are trying our hardest to get it back in. However, you can use Remagen/Unkel or Roermond/Roermond West for Ground. Also you can use Seclin/Lille area for Aircraft.

To find who is all on the training server, type .who. On the real server the .who command will tell which of your squad mates that are online, here it tells everyone on the training server. On both servers you can type .tr to find out the trainers that are online. Feel free to ask any of them anytime questions that you have. They are there to help you!!!

Training Classes
There are two types of training currently available from this program. As we expand the effort, we'll be adding more and more training resources and programs including classes, and incentive programs designed to help people get into the game.

Open Training
Open training means that anyone can show up and practise whatever they want on the training server. Trainers may not be available during open training. This is useful for squads wanting to train new members without it affecting their scores. You may just want to check out various vehicles online or ask questions from users who are on the training server about various aspects of the game.

Scheduled Training
Scheduled training means that "trainers" are available to train you. It will be on a first come, first serve basis. Upon entry, you will need to contact the trainer specified in the system message in order to get training. He will direct you to a trainer that is available. If none are available, you'll have the option to wait or try back later. You can still use the training server in an Open format as long as you don't interfere with trainers and their pupils. Once you are directed to a trainer, you will convey your interest to the trainer and training will be conducted in a way that fits your needs... whether it be question and answers or actual operation of vehicles and troops.
Introduction
WWII Online: Battleground Europe is a combined arms simulation, featuring co-operative gameplay between Ground, Air, and Naval units. Of these three, the Airforce is arguably the most potent arm: without air superiority and close air support the Army and the Navy cannot hope to make an impact, and without fighters to pave the way for bombers and paratroop aircraft, very little can be accomplished. Strategic bombers, roaming far beyond the reach of riflemen and patrol boats, have the power to strangle supply and slow down research of new weaponry in the game’s RDP model. Air superiority is a vital concept and during your first few hours in the game world, as you find yourself anxiously looking skyward or ducking under a hail of bombs, you will recognize just how important it is. This guide aims to help you to get airborne, armed and ready to influence the flow of battle.

Air combat IS tough

Be advised that air combat is an incredibly complex field to venture into. Becoming an effective pilot requires long hours in the cockpit and countless fiery deaths. Do not be turned off by the steep learning curve however – once you get the hang of some basic concepts you will be ready to fight it out with the best of them.

WWII Online has a good selection of various types of combat aircraft to choose from, all with their own peculiar traits, benefits and disadvantages. Aside from general similarities and the universal challenge of combat shared by all, each aircraft requires a specific modus operandi to ensure success. Learn by flying them all, offline, through reading and by experimenting, to find the aircraft and the practice that best suits your fighting personality.

First time pilot? Fly offline!

If this is your first attempt at flying, we strongly recommend that you review the basic aircraft controls below and practice extensively offline before venturing out online. This is because aircraft availability online is severely limited, and while your embarrassing crash will not dig a hole in the spawnlist, senseless waste of aircraft is largely frowned upon by your fellow pilots. Once online, do not hesitate to ask for help and advice that you perchance have yet to read about in this guide – we are a friendly lot and love to be of assistance. For yet more instruction and assistance, do please visit the Training Arena and make use of our seasoned Trainers!
|-
|A2A||Air to Air||aircraft engaging enemy aircraft.
|-
|A2G||Air to Ground||aircraft engaging enemy ground targets with bombs and/or gunfire.
|-
|ACM||Air Combat Manoeuvres||also; Air Combat Manoeuvring. More commonly known as “Dogfighting”.
|-
|AQ||Air Quake||i.e. Heavy Enemy Bombing.
|-
|BARCAP||Barrier Combat Air Patrol||fighter patrol creating a barrier. e.g. ingress route from an enemy AF to the selected defence target.
|-
|CAP||Combat Air Patrol||also; Close Air Patrol, fighter patrol and Capture. Fighter patrol covering an target and/or area, mostly a Placed AO (Attack Order) or DO (Defence Order).
|-
|CAS||Close Air Support||also; Combat Air Support. Any Air to Ground attack, currently includes bombing/strafing.
|-
|RDP||Research and Development||also; RDB Raid. Refers to the effect on the unit resupply rate whereby destroyed units are replaced. It is performed by bombers attacking the Nine Enemy Factories located on the map. There are 9 British, French and German Factories. Also may refer to Factory bombing or the way in which the equipment tiers progress (bombing used to slow the tier rate but does not currently). Additionally an old term for old game mechanics, still used to describe enemy factory attacks.
|-
|CTF||Capture the Flag||the base mechanics of Battleground Europe.
|-
|CAP||Capture||also; Combat Air Patrol. The act of Capturing an enemy held CP. After the Town has an Attack Order placed on it for longer than 10 minutes the CP's (in this case just Depots) are termed “Hot” or Capture-able. As Infantry you enter the enemy held CP (as indicated by the flag on the outside), which starts a timer and is visible within your Heads Up Display (HUD). Once this timer reaches 100% the CP is Captured and control changes to your side. More than 1 person Capturing a CP simultaneously reduces the time required. Also being on the Under Populated (UP) side also reduces the time required as well.
|-
|HAAC||Hold at All Cost ||a desperate call usually about a Town that is under serious threat that is vital to the current map situation. I.e. in a cut-off situation.
|-
|Mole|| ||also; Mole AO. An Attack Objective (AO) placed on a Town with the specific purpose to draw the enemy away from a potentially more important placed AO. However, if the enemy ignores the Mole AO for too long it is possible for the Mole AO to become a worthwhile primary AO as a result of the undefended (not sufficient defending troops) CP's falling. Important, very large towns are usually a good target for a Mole AO. Allied controlled Antwerp and/or Brussels as a Mole AO for the Axis for example. Additionally a person who travels to undefended or low-priority towns with the intent to repeatedly capture CP's and then hide afterwards as a harassing tactic.
|-
|Zerg|| ||an uncoordinated (possibly coordinated) rush, usually of tanks. Think Starcaft.
|-
|UMS||Urban Mobile Spawn||a mobile spawn point only place-able by transport and only able to be placed inside of Built Up areas. All Infantry types only may spawn from an Urban Mobile Spawn (UMS). The Urban Mobile Spawn (UMS) requires less space to be placed and so may be placed in tighter areas. ! Abbreviation / Term!! Full Name!! Description
|-
|AB||Armybase||also; Army Base. The only facility in a town where you can spawn Heavy Field Pieces and Armoured Vehicles. The only limitation on the Armybase supply is the actual unit availability, unlike Depots. Towns can contain more than one Armybase. Once the enemy captures the “Last” Armybase the Units based there retreats.
|-
|AF||Airfield||the facility from which Aircraft spawn. It usually (but not always) has a separate Armybase on a square level surface near a town. When the enemy captures the Airfield Bunker, aircraft units based there retreats and aircraft can no longer spawn in at the airfield. If an Airfield is “Friendly Controlled”, friendly aircraft may rearm/refuel at that airfield. Additionally if the aircraft has no Critical Component Damage (Kill) it may de-spawn (RTB) and re-Spawn at that airfield. An aircraft with Critical Component Damage (Kill) will not be permitted to re-Spawn.
|-
|AFAB||Airfield Armybase||an Armybase located in close proximity to, if not on an Airfield.
|-
|AGL||Above Ground Level||something to consider. Ground Level is usually above Sea Level. Altimeters usually measure Altitude above Sea Level which can be many feet/meters below Ground Level.
|-
|ALT||Altitude||measured in feet (imperial - UK and US) and meters (metric, SI - FR and DE).
|-
|BLDG||Building||
|-
|BNKR||Bunker||the facility in an Armybase or Airfield containing the radio table. It will always display the flag of the controlling nationality (switches immediately if captured).
|-
|BRDG||Bridge||
|-
|BRG||Brigade, also; Bridge||
|-
|BRIG||Brigade||the base unit used within Battleground Europe.
|-
|CP||Capture Point||also; Choke Point or Control Point. Officially all of the Towns/Cities shown on the map are Choke Points (CP). Choke Points (Towns) as represented on the Campaign map are places whose friendly control frees friendly land movement while restricting enemy land movement. The “Common Wisdom” now is usually: A CP (Capture Point) is any enemy controlled structure (as indicated by a flag on the structure) within a Town (Choke Point) whose capture is part of the process of capturing (liberating) the Town (Choke Point) from enemy control. ALL CP's must be friendly controlled simultaneously for a Town (Choke Point) to change sides. While the enemy controls any one CP (Capture Point) the Town (Choke Point) remains enemy controlled. In-game players will often indicate a particular capture point by its cardinal location in a choke point, e.g. “NCP” indicating “North Capture Point”. Additionally players can also indicate a specific CP, e.g. Armybase / Airfield Bunker, Docks, City, Railroad Station or a Named CP etc.
|-
|FB||Forward Base||also; Firebase. A facility near a Town (Choke Point or CP) from which units can spawn. It usually consists of the tented camp comprising Infantry Tents (Infantry Spawn point), Vehicle Tent (Vehicle Spawn point) and occasionally Other Covered Crates. The Infantry Tents, Vehicle Tent and if present Other Covered Crates must also be destroyed (100% damage) to remove the enemy Forward Base (FB) from the map. When the Forward Base (FB) destroyed the other Forward Base of the pair is activated. A Forward Base (FB) that is left alone, i.e. not attacked, will self repair to 100% given time. Visually the Forward Base tented camp components show only 2 states. Undamaged and Destroyed. A percentage value of the components is available via the Main map and the dot commands. i.e. Infantry 35%, Vehicle 100%, with 100% being destroyed.
|-
|Flag|| ||the current unit/s in a town.
|-
|HQ||Headquarters||the roughly brigade strength Headquarters Unit of a Division.
|-
|Inf Spawn||Infantry Spawn Point||anything that Infantry can be spawned from. Includes: Armybase and Forward Base Infantry Spawns and Depots buildings. Also Fortified Mobile Spawn (FMS) or Urban Mobile Spawn (UMS) Player Placed Objects. Additionally Airfield Control Towers for Paratroops.
|-
|RR||Railway Station||also; Railroad.
|-
|RVR||River||a significant barrier to vehicle mobility and therefore the placement of Fortified Mobile Spawn (FMS) or Urban Mobile Spawn (UMS), except via an un-destroyed bridge. Slows Infantry movement by forcing them to swim the river. Is water navigable by the Fairmile B, Coastal Patrol Boat.
|-
|Spawn Point|| ||normally a term for a fixed spawn point or a Player Placed mobile spawn that is used to spawn from. Fixed Spawn Points Include; Armybase and Forward Base, Infantry and Vehicle Spawns, Depot Spawns, Dock Spawns (ships only), Airfield Hanger Spawns (aircraft only), Airfield Control Tower Spawns (paratroops only). Mobile Spawn Points include: the Fortified Mobile Spawn (FMS) or Urban Mobile Spawn (UMS) Player Placed Objects.
|-
|Spawnable|| ||an enemy controlled depot within an friendly controlled Town, where the linking FB is enemy controlled AND there is are enemy unit/s based within the linked enemy Town.
|-
|Veh Spawn||Vehicle Spawn Point||anything that Vehicles can be spawned from. Includes: Armybase and Forward Base Vehicle Spawns and Depots buildings. Airfield Hangers for aircraft and Docks for ships.
|-
|WP||Way point||a reference point placed on the map by the Mission Leader (ML). eg to aid entry to a target to best use available cover and/or avoid enemy AI fire.
|-
|AO||Attack Order||also; Attack Objective. An Attack Order (AO) on Town (CP) means that High Command is requesting the Player Base (PB) to Attack and Liberate the marked Town/City. After a time has elapsed (10 mins) the town capture points (only Depots initially) become enabled or “Hot”.
|-
|DO||Defend Order||also; Defence Objective or DO. A friendly Town (CP) that has an enemy AO placed on it and needs defending, preferably before 10 minutes have passed when the Capture Points (CPs, Depots initially) are activated or “Hot”.
|BOB||Battle of Britain||the attempt by the Luftwaffe to dominate the sky’s over southern England as a precursor to Operation Sea Lion (the proposed amphibious and airborne invasion of Britain by German forces). The Battle commenced approximately on 10 July and concluded on 31 October 1940. What would become known as “The Blitz” commenced before the conclusion of the Battle of Britain. The Luftwaffe and RAF were the principal combatants, however several nations were represented by having pilots participating in the battle. The British RAF effectively won the battle by their resistance causing the German High Command to initially postpone and then cancel Operation Sea Lion. The Battle of Britain was also the first major campaign fought entirely by air forces. Also lookup the following famous speeches, “Battle of Britain - their Finest Hour” June 18, 1940 and “The Few” August 20, 1940 both given by Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965).
It is possible for a unit (usually armour) to have a “Kill” recorded against it but is still quite capable of killing. The only Critical Component Damage “Kill” that usually prevents a unit (usually armour) from further killing is a Critical Component Damage - Gunner Dead. If the armoured unit has other weapons controlled by other crew it can still kill even after it has been officially “killed”.
|-
|SNAFU|| ||Situation Normal, All Fouled (F*****) Up.
|-
|STO||Server Tracked Object||an in-game object that is tracked by the game servers. The advantage of a Server Tracked Object (STO) is that everyone in-game sees exactly the same thing rather than their client software’s approximation.
Capturing Towns and CP / Territorial Gain
This is an example of the capture system currently used in Battleground Europe. The system can be adapted and modified.

*The basic aim of Battleground Europe is to destroy the enemy to capture their territory, specifically, their cities.
*Cities are made up of various facilities. To capture a city, all of its facilities must be captured.
*Only cities that have been designated as an Attack Objective can be captured.

The Capture Process
There are three states of occupation through which a town progresses during the process of capture, they are termed "contention", "control" and "ownership". Much of the game's tactical, strategic and supply systems are dependent on these three states. You can use the "/own" command to see the status of your current town, or you can select a target on the map to query a specific town.

Ownership

Ownership of a town indicates which side last had complete ownership of a town. To take ownership of an enemy town you must capture and hold all of the facilities until the town becomes uncontested with no enemy flags remaining in the town.

Contention

A town is said to be "Contested", "Contended" or "In Contention" when the enemy holds one or more of its facilities.

Control

At any given time, a town is said to be controlled by the side who last held all of the city's Armybase facilities. In a town with a single Armybase, this is clearcut - whomever holds the Armybase controls the town. In a town with multiple army bases, control can be non-obvious. If any Army Brigades are in a town when the other side takes control, they are routed and cannot return to the town until their side retakes control of the town.

Ownership & Control Effects
#You must own and control a town to have use of the military facilities (armybases, docks and airfields) or to move a brigade into it.
#When a town is owned by one side but controlled by the other, Defensive Firebases will open to it.

Attack Objectives (AO)
Main article: Attack Objective

In order for any city to be “captureable” the attacking country’s High Command Staff must place an Attack Objective on it. Once an attack objective is placed, the target will be vulnerable to capture after a short period of time. Initially, all depot facilities are vulnerable. A few minutes after any one of these non-military facilities is captured the military facilities also become capturable. Only cities on the Frontline are candidates for an Attack Objective.

(Bridges can also be the target of Attack Objectives, which makes them destroyable, but also repairable by the defender).

The following facilities will be capturable once the AO has been up long enough:

*Depots
*City centers
*Railroad stations
*Factories

The following military facilities require 10 minutes of continuous contention to become capturable:

*Army bases
*Airfields
*Airfield Army bases
*Docks
*Naval Ports

Capturing a Facility
Main article: Facility Capture

This is where the rubber meets the road; it all comes down to taking what the enemy has, and denying him the chance to take what you have. All capturable facilities will have a flag hanging either directly on the building, or on an adjacent “capture building” indicating ownership. Capture buildings can be a small house, a Castle tower, a boat house, or even bunkers as seen in armybases and air fields.

To capture a facility, infantry must enter and hold the capture building for a specified time. Currently, the number of infantry present reduces the time needed to capture the facility. It takes 8min to capture a Facility by your self.

Capturing a City
When the first facility is captured, the town is said to be Contested until either all facilities are taken or the enemy recaptures all of the facilities, making the city Uncontested.

To secure the entire town, the armybases must be captured from within the central bunker building. Note that during this time the defenders are able to re-capture any fallen facilities thereby uncontesting the city (by kicking out the attackers and controlling all the facilities at once). The attackers will then have to re-contest the town again and start over.

Forward Bases
There are forward bases between most cities that shorten the time-to-combat by providing a place to prepare to assault or liberate a city.

If all of the armybases in a town are captured and held at the same time, the capturing side becomes the Controller of the town and the enemy's Forward Bases to this city will open.

Tactics
Offense
*Capturing all the AB's before owning the other facilities is very risky. Until the town is uncontested (completely owned), the new AB's will not generate any supply, and the FB's that the attack had been launched from will have vanished. Conversely the defending sides FB's will appear and they will be able to use this supply if they have Brigades available in the connecting CP's.
*If a CP is being held only by a naval brigade (on a riverfront), then capturing the docks will cause the brigade to be routed. This can often be a rude surprise to the defenders, who thought their AB was secure.

Defense
*Capturing all the facilities will reset the timers that have to count down before the AB/AF/dock timers appear.
*Defence of the CO's is critical, especially those that link to enemy held towns as these will be come spawnable to the enemy if they own the FB between the towns or there is no FB.

When you are in a bush. You can`t be seen very easily but if you have a wider view it means that you can be seen easily. But you have a wider firing arc so like the picture shows that moving back a bit can make the difference to you being killed or being in seen.

Each CP has several AI defense units around it, which serve as a light deterrent to surprise attacks.

There are four types of AI:

*Anti-Aircraft
*Anti-Tank
*Anti-Personnel (machine gunners)
*Anti-Ship

The type of weapon used by the AI is determined by the country that owns the [Facility|facility]] the AI is connected to. For instance, when the facility is controlled by Germany, the machine gunners will have the MG34.

Generally, AI defenders will be found covering the main avenues of approach to any CP and will also cover surround the CP, though there are gaps in the coverage.

Certain types of towns will have larger numbers, and higher qualities, of AI defenses. A small town may only posses a single AAA AI machine gun in the Army Base, whereas a town with an airfield and docks will often be ringed with heavy flak defenses.

You can take down AI with a couple of grenades or a HE satchel charge. Also a bombe can take it out and if you are in a fighter you can use your MGs to take it out but its quite hard.

Overview & Game Play
A Rocket Launcher or a piat is a weapon that can be carried by a single person and fired while held on one's shoulder. Depending on the country or region, people might use the terms "bazooka" or "RPG" as generalized terms to refer to such weapons, both of which are in fact specific types of rocket launchers. The bazooka is an American anti-tank weapon which was in service in 1942–1957, while the RPG is a Soviet anti-tank weapon.

* The rocket launcher can damage any tank in the game.
* It has big splash damage so you can hit more stuff in a confined area.

How to Install Incremental flaps
Flaps, the large moving surfaces inboard of your ailerons that deploy to increase the wing’s lift area, are normally used for landing only. They can however be used successfully in combat as well, for the same reason: they increase lift (and increase drag, thereby slowing you down). And when you increase lift in a slow and tight turning fight, you can turn yet tighter and thus gain a favorable shot position.

The WWIIOL:BE flaps operation is simplistic yet variable: if you do not tweak your aircraft setup the flaps will either be fully retracted or fully deployed, even if your aircraft historically had incremental flap settings. By the same token, aircraft that did not have incremental flap settings can be tweaked to have such in the game.

If you do not tweak your settings to offer “combat flaps”, you need to be wary of deploying flaps at speeds over 250 kmh/150m mph as prolonged use at excessive speed will damage the flaps and even render them inoperable. Therefore, should you opt to use flaps to gain a positional advantage, only use them briefly and at lower speeds.

To give your aircraft “combat flaps” cut and paste the following text into your ‘’’air.cfml document’’’ which you will find in your WWIIOL:BE directory (the Windows default location go to documents then battleground Europe and you should fined the cmfl file and go to air.cmfl and save the air.cfml file after editing, without renaming it, using any basic text editor such as Simpletext or Notepad.

Here's a good video of how to install it https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yY1lVB_bHHM

<control function="Flap control">
<keydelta value="25.00" per="keypress">
<key>q</key>
</keydelta>
<keydelta value="-25.00" per="keypress" index="1">
<key>w</key>
</keydelta>
<keyabsolute value="0.00">
<key></key>
</keyabsolute>
<keyabsolute value="0.00" index="10">
<key></key>
</keyabsolute>
</control>

* Each time you push the Q or W key, it will raise/lower the flaps 25%. If the flaps move 40 degrees (typical), then each keypress will give you 10 degrees of flaps if you use the settings above. You can also change what keys to use for flaps operation, and the amount of effect per keypress.

* The use of rudders, either foot pedals or in the form of a twist-action stick, is highly recommended. Without rudder control you are robbing yourself of an entire plane of maneuver: yaw (lateral movement). Flying without rudder control is like trying to do breaststrokes with your hands tied behind your back!

* Use rudder control to correct your takeoff roll; to skid, sideslip and knifedge; to slice inside an opponent’s turn; to slice up while turning; to yaw into a guns opportunity while heading right past an enemy; to correct a strafing approach, just to name a few. If you have rudder control, do not be afraid to use it. And if you are afraid to use it, experiment offline until you get the hang of it.
Oxford09https://wiki.wwiionline.com/index.php?title=British_AF_Units&diff=2053British AF Units2017-02-15T08:29:06Z
Oxford09: /* FIGHTER-BOMBER/CLOSE AIR SUPPORT */
