This shoulder-fired anti-tank rocket launcher was created in reaction to the US M1A1 Bazooka. It was nicknamed the "Ofenrohr" ("Stovepipe") for its appearance, but "Panzerschreck" ("Tank Horror") for what it did to targets. Using a heavy 88mm rocket with a shaped HEAT charge, it could penetrate more than 8 inches of armor in optimal conditions.
