History
In 1917 designer John Browning saw the need for a lighter machine gun capable of keeping up with assaulting infantry. The result of his work was the Browning automatic rifle (BAR). The BAR was only officially adopted in US service in the late 1930s. It also had significant overseas sales. Belgium and Poland both produced copies. This meant that the BAR saw action right from the beginning of the Second World War. The BAR gave good service during the war and continued in US service until the late 50s early 60s.
Game Play
The BAR is available from tier 3 when the US forces enter the game. The BAR is quite divisive in the allied player base. Allies either love it or hate it. It can be wildly inaccurate at close ranges when the bipod is comes with is not deployed. It is very effective when it has the bipod deployed, highly accurate with a high rate of fire. Perfect for cutting an AB and a route to a CP. However since it only has a 20 round magazine it uses up lots of ammo quickly.
The one real advantage the BAR has is that it loaded with AP ammo. These means that it can pierce the armour of the 232 armoured car and the Panzer2c at close range. This means that it can be used to clear a camped spawn depot of mobile spawn .
